SEEDS ALBUM/TOUR ANNOUNCEGreetings Sexton Fans NEW RECORD OUT APRIL 3rd / SKI TOWN DATES / UK TOUR / US HEADLINING TOUR Soul Man Spreads His 'Seeds,' Holds True to Independent Roots Soul singer Martin Sexton prepares to release his seventh collection of songs on his new album, Seeds. "I believe songs are seeds," muses Sexton, "once planted they can grow and nourish and inspire and with that, change the world." This record ranges like an American road-trip with stops in the regions of gospel, country, blues, and rock, crafted with keen pop sensibility. The New York Times says, "His unpretentious heartiness helps him focus on every soul singer's goal: to amplify the sound of the ordinary heart." Seeds oozes with that soul... infused with spiritual hunger and child-like joy, all delivered with Sexton's fervent vocals. On songs like the incandescent "Wild Angels" and the sassy "I'm Here," there's a constant streaming of humanity that resonates a universal chord. "Happy" is a realization of dreams coming true in the form of a catchy pop song. The night Billy Preston passed, Sexton paid tribute to his hero recording "Will It Go round In Circles," ... This rendition rocks with fuzz bass and Leslie vocal shimmer. E Street Band's Nils Lofgren lends his lap steel to the western-swing tune "How Far I've Come" and jammer Keller Williams cheerfully plucks his Dobro on the twangy "Goin To The Country." A troubadour in the true sense, Sexton says no thanks to several record label offers and remains fiercely independent. His success has come, not overnight, nor as a result of bazillion-dollar marketing campaigns or one-hit single. The millions of hits on his website, the hundreds of thousands of records sold, and his sold-out shows from a two-night stand at Town Hall in New York to the Fillmore in San Francisco happen because Martin Sexton is the real deal. Fans feel a personal connection to the music and spread it from friend-to-friend, family-to-family, generation-to-generation, and musician-to-musician. John Mayer calls Sexton, "One of the greatest singers of our generation." He adds, "This is the music of my LIFE, people." Billboard wrote, "Sexton's voice comes in a hundred impossible shades," from a gospel choir in "Wild Angels" to an electric voice solo on the trippy "Marry Me." To this he replies, "One of my heroes is the late Mel Blanc. As a kid I was fascinated to learn he was the voice of every cartoon character I was familiar with, from all the Looney Tunes to Barney Rubble. So I guess he's where I got permission to use different voices here and there, to add color and depth." "After Al Gore's film An Inconvenient Truth I was inspired ... I feel a sense of responsibility to use my art as a vehicle to carry a message." Sexton plans a green tour supporting the release including a bio-diesel bus and tie-ins with several eco-conscious sponsors. Martin Sexton begins his US headlining tour in April -after returning from a run through the UK in March- with stops including the Nokia Theatre in New York, the Pantages Theatre in Minneapolis, House of Blues in LA, and the Golden Gate Park in San Francisco on Earth Day.
